Black Forest Cake
German: "Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte"
Black Forest Cake, or “Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte” is a chocolate sponge cake with layers of cherries and cream. It is decorated with additional whipped cream, cherries, and chocolate shavings. Traditionally, Kirschwasser, a clear spirit made from sour cherries, is added to the cake. German law mandates that Kirschwasser must be present in the cake for it to be officially labelled a “Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte”.

cream, sugar, flour, water, cherries, dark chocolate, glazed cherries, baking powder, gelantine, Kirschwasser (~40% Alcohol)
